Name:
Steph
Age: 27
Location: Orlando, Florida USA
Inspirations:
“People watching,”
sending and receiving mail, sunny days with a cool breeze, playing with my dogs,
collecting Pez dispensers, anything colorful or rainbow-patterned, browsing
art online, space exploration, The Muppets, weird science, Dia de los Muertos and other cultural celebrations and traditions having to do with death,
learning new things, making people smile and laugh, and trying to come up with
ways to save the world!
A little bit
more about me: I
was born in Rhode Island, but left at a young age and so I only remember it
as a place with lots of relatives and really awesome ice cream! I like to
say that I‘ve been drawing and creating ever since I was old enough to pick
up a crayon (one of those big fat ones they gave us to use in kindergarten,
remember?) Its probably true! As a kid, I took a few awards with my artwork,
and sometimes I even manage to achieve a few cool things now
that I’m a big kid, too! (See below!)
Nobody in my family knows quite where my
love of art came from, but my love of creating
handmade things came from my Grandmother,
who was an amazing quilter, fantastic with
plastic canvas, a super seamstress, and the
person who taught me how to make something from nothing, or take something
old and turn it into something new!
I’m a self-taught artist, always looking to expand my horizons and try out new forms of artwork. I have been a street painter (competitive sidewalk chalk artist) since 2001, and most recently have begun to learn the art of cake decorating.
I always hope that others enjoy my works of art and craft as much as I enjoy
creating them. I love seeing smiling faces in response to my artistic efforts!
My Favorite Artists:
All of the amazing people listed on my links page, as well as Frida Kahlo,
Craig McCracken, M.C. Escher, Glen Keane, and many more!
